Your trusted partner for custom casting sourcing

A welded assembly is only as strong as the weld itself, which means the factory's welder qualifications, procedure documentation, and inspection discipline matter as much as the equipment on the floor. AASA works with U.S. businesses to identify overseas welding partners that can actually back up their work with WPS and PQR documentation, not just a finished part that looks acceptable. Our network across India, China, Vietnam, and Thailand covers MIG, TIG, and robotic welding, matched to your material, joint type, applicable code, and volume.

AASA stays involved past the introduction. We review your drawing and weld symbols, confirm the factory's welder certifications against your requirements, and monitor production with in-process visual checks and, where specified, non-destructive testing. Every order is inspected against your drawing before it ships, and freight and customs are coordinated through the same team, so a welded frame, skid, or pressure component reaches your dock as a finished, verified part.

Comprehensive casting capabilities

Sand casting and investment casting each demand a different kind of pattern, mold, and process control. AASA sources across the capabilities below, matched to your part's geometry, tolerance, and volume rather than the nearest available foundry.

01 – TOOLING
Pattern & Tooling Development

Wood, metal, or 3D-printed patterns for sand casting, and wax injection tooling for investment casting.

02 – SAND CASTING
Green Sand & No-Bake Casting

Green sand and resin no-bake molding for large parts, prototypes, and lower-volume production.

03 – INVESTMENT
Investment (Lost Wax) Casting

Ceramic shell investment casting for complex geometry, thin walls, and tight tolerance parts.

04 – CORE MAKING
Core Making

Sand and soluble cores that form internal passages, undercuts, and cavities within the casting.

05 – HEAT TREATMENT
Heat Treatment

Annealing, normalizing, and solution heat treatment matched to your alloy and target mechanical properties.

06 – MACHINING
Machining & Finishing

CNC finish machining, shot blasting, and grinding to bring cast parts to final dimension and surface.

Alloys we source casting for

Alloy choice affects castability as much as it affects the finished part's strength, and some alloys that machine well cast poorly, or the reverse. AASA sources across the alloys below and can advise on which one fits your load, corrosion, and machining requirements before a pattern is built.

  • Carbon & Alloy Steel - Structural, wear parts
  • Stainless Steel - Common in investment casting
  • Gray & Ductile Iron - Common in sand casting
  • Aluminum Alloys - Lightweight housings
  • Bronze & Brass - Bearings, marine hardware

From supplier selection and casting process review to quality inspection and delivery, AASA manages every step to help ensure consistent quality, reliable timelines, and smooth overseas sourcing.

01
Spec review

We review your drawing, alloy, and tolerance requirements to recommend sand casting, investment casting, or a combination with machining.

02
Factory match

We select the most suitable casting partner from our audited supplier network based on process, alloy expertise, and capacity.

03
Production oversight

First-article approval, in-process inspections, and dimensional checks confirm the casting meets your drawing before full production.

04
QC & Logistics

Every order undergoes final quality inspection before secure packaging and coordinated worldwide shipping to your dock.

Direct Factory vs Sourcing Through AASA

Reduce sourcing risks, simplify supplier management, and gain access to a vetted network of casting partners across India, China, Vietnam, and Thailand, all through a single point of contact.

Direct Factory

  • Limited to the casting process and pattern shop of one factory
  • Time-consuming supplier research and qualification
  • You decide sand vs investment casting without independent review
  • Quality and dimensional oversight depends on your internal resources
  • Need to coordinate production updates yourself
  • Limited alternatives if production issues occur
  • You handle supplier negotiations
  • Separate management of logistics and export documentation
  • Multiple contacts across casting, machining, and finishing vendors
  • Higher risk when sourcing from an unfamiliar supplier

Casting sourcing FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our sand and investment casting sourcing process, quality standards, and manufacturing capabilities.

What tolerances and surface finish can be achieved with each casting method?

Investment casting typically holds tighter linear tolerances and a smoother as-cast surface than sand casting, often close enough to eliminate machining on non-critical features. Sand casting produces a coarser surface and wider tolerance band, and most sand cast parts requiring precision features are finish machined after casting. AASA reviews your drawing's tolerance and finish callouts to recommend which process, or which combination of casting and machining, actually meets the spec.

Can AASA source casting in both ferrous and non-ferrous alloys?

Yes. AASA's casting network covers ferrous alloys including carbon steel, alloy steel, and gray and ductile iron, as well as non-ferrous alloys including aluminum, bronze, and brass, across both sand and investment casting processes.

How do minimum order quantities differ between sand casting and investment casting?

Sand casting patterns are generally less expensive to build than investment casting tooling, which can make sand casting more accessible for very low quantities or one-off parts. Investment casting tooling costs more upfront but produces a more consistent, near-net-shape part at volume, so the economics shift in its favor as annual quantity increases. AASA can model both against your specific volume before you commit to a process.

Can AASA also source machining and heat treatment for cast parts?

Yes. AASA coordinates CNC finish machining, heat treatment such as annealing or normalizing, and surface finishing alongside the casting process itself, so a cast part arrives at your dock finished and ready to install rather than requiring a second vendor.

What information do you need to quote a casting order?

We typically need a drawing or 3D model, target alloy, critical dimensions and tolerances, any machined features or heat treatment requirements, estimated quantities, and your target timeline. If you are unsure whether sand casting or investment casting fits your part, our team can review the geometry and recommend a process before you commit to tooling.
